Dr. Egli currently serves as Senior Advisor to the Minister of Defense in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and previously supported the Minister of Interior, in developing their Homeland Security and Cyber Security strategies, and Border Guard reorganization, all to advance strategic transformation in support of Vision-2030.
He served at the White House on the National Security Council staff as the Director for Counterterrorism, Global Counternarcotics, and Hostage Rescue Policy.
He was also Senior Advisor for Counterterrorism and Defense Operations Policy at the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, DC; and previously served in the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico.
And was National Security Advisor for Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Maryland, specializing in Homeland Security, Resilience, and Cyber Security.
He is President of Cardinal Headings, LLC, specializing in national security, executive leadership, and global management consulting.
Dr. Egli currently serves as Director of Technology and Security for Elliptical Partners, LLC focused on building business opportunities through innovative market partnerships and diverse investments.
He is the former President and Co-Founder of Hyperloop Advanced Research Partnership (HARP), exploring next-generation high-speed transportation systems.
There are two types of leaders.
The first has a scarcity mentality and worries about who gets the credit, while the other type has an abundance mentality that inspires confidence in others by rejoicing in their success.
Dr. Egli is in the second category!
As a career Coast Guard officer, Dr. Egli served in operational leadership conducting search & rescue, homeland security, and maritime law enforcement missions. He also served at NORAD/US Northern Command in Colorado Springs as Chief of Future Operations (J35), and Senior Maritime Advisor.
He was an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University, and University of Colorado, teaching Program Management, Homeland and Cyber Security.
Dr. Egli graduated from the Coast Guard Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
He received graduate degrees from George Washington University and National Defense University, a Doctoral Degree from the University of Colorado-Denver, and is a distinguished graduate of the Naval War College. He is also a graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy School Executive Education program.
He also holds a Master’s Degree in Biblical & Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary.
Dane and his wife Annemarie have been married for nearly 40 years and maintain a small ranch in the mountains of Colorado, fifty miles west of Colorado Springs near the village of Guffey. They have been blessed with four adult children and three grandchildren.

Dr. Egli is the author of “Beyond the Storms: Strengthening Homeland Security and Disaster Management to Achieve Resilience,” and co-authored “Hyperloop: The Future of High-speed Transportation.”
He has appeared on ABC, CNN, FOX News, C-SPAN, and NPR to address National Security, Cyber Security, and Hostage Rescue Policy. His most recent book is “The Crossing: Discovering God’s Providence in the Miracle & Mystery of the Exodus.”
